Hygiene of pregnant womenHygiene during pregnancy should have a special level of safety and take into account the increased sensitivity of mucous membranes. Strict adherence to the rules of hygiene during pregnancy should enter into your habit. Gynecologists have developed basic hygiene recommendations for expectant mothers. Pay attention to them:

  • The shower must replace the bath. The bath creates the risk of genital infections, at least because of the non-sterility of the water. If there was a thrush during pregnancy, a warm bath can only exacerbate the condition;
  • 1-2 times a day to take a shower, if there is no such possibility – wipe the body with a towel soaked in water at room temperature;
  • 2 times a day to wash the external genitals with warm water and soap;
  • During pregnancy, you should carefully choose the means of intimate hygiene. Soap with a high pH causes a violation of the acid-base balance of the mucosa, which provokes the development of infections. Suitable gels with a pH of 5 or 5.5;
  • In your bathroom now should be a towel exclusively for intimate hygiene, which should be changed three times a week;
  • Lingerie for pregnant women should be only natural (cotton). Synthetics is a favorable environment for the development of infections;
  • Bras should be a comfortable and made from natural fabrics, fit the size and shape of the glands;
  • Clothes should be comfortable, not hamper the chest, abdomen, do not squeeze the lower limbs;
  • Shoes should be selected on a wide, low heel;
  • After 7 months of pregnancy, wear a special bandage to prevent overstretch of the anterior abdominal wall;
  • Sleep at least 8-9 hours in a well-ventilated room;
  • Do not lift weights, do not make sudden movements;
  • At least 2 hours a day be outdoors, move more;
  • Avoid emotional stress;
  • Avoid being in rooms where people smoke, and, moreover, do not smoke themselves, as in pregnant smokers are born children with low birth weight, weakened and broken milk production;
  • Exclude sex in the first 3 months and the last 2 months of pregnancy, to prevent infections transmitted sexually, miscarriages and premature births;
  • In the absence of contraindications perform a set of gymnastic exercises, corresponding to the period of pregnancy.
